The Emblem of the Region
The Central Bohemian Region uses its emblem, which confirms the continuity of the region's development and, at the same time, proves its crucial position in the Czech lands and their history. The figure of the Czech lion indicates that the Central Bohemian Region is part of the Czech Republic.
Repeating the figure of the Czech lion reminds us that the foundations of the Czech state were laid in the Central Bohemian Region. The use of the St. Wenceslas eagle, the dynastic emblem of the Přemyslids, reminds us that the core of the Přemyslid principality was also located in the territory of today's Central Bohemia. The two blue wavy lines symbolize not only the two largest Czech rivers of Vltava and Elbe, which flow through the part of the Central Bohemian Region but also complement the tinctures of the Czech tricolour.
The emblem of the Central Bohemian Region is as follows:
A shield split into quarters, silver and red, with the Czech lion in the first and fourth quarter, a black flaming eagle with red armour and silver perizoma in the second quarter, and two blue wavy lines in the third quarter.
The use of the emblem is subject to approval by the Council of the Central Bohemian Region.
